Geography

The Serengeti National Park is a large conservation are located in Serengeti area, the north of Tanzania. The park is in fact one among the several conservation areas within the Serengeti region of East Africa. The word Serengeti, meaning ‘endless plains’, is of Masai origin. The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the world’s ancient ecosystems.
The climate, fauna and vegetation have barely changed in the past million years in this area. The Park records at least a 90,000 tourist visit annually

There are about 518 species of birds that can be observed in the Serengeti. Early as well as late daylight hours are best suited time for this. Among these wide varieties of bird species, some are Eurasian migrants which can be seen in the European winter months from October to April
More than 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle and 200,000 Zebra actually graze here in harmony. The spectacle frames of predator versus prey dominate this Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers.

Scattered through the Park, the six luxury tented camps, four lodges and camp sites; provides fair lodging and camping facility to the visitors. Serengeti’s nine campsites are much cheaper and easily accessible. Serengeti Migration Camp and Kensington Camps stand out in the list due to their thrilling nature and services.
The few Luxury Tented Camps available in the Serengeti offers an absolutely unique Safari experience. The tents are usually fully equipped en-suite bathrooms, elegant furniture and private verandas. At night you can listen to the wild sounds of the Serengeti cuddled up in a warm and comfortable bed!

Fees/Permits

In Tanzania you may find the Park fees little expensive. The Park fees generally accounts around US $50 per person for a day. The camping fee is US $30 per tent per day and US$ 30 per vehicle per day. In Serengeti there are of course certain “don’ts” that you should strictly follow. These include approaching too close and disturbing animals, picking flowers, making loud noise, carelessly dropping wastes, damaging vegetation, bringing pets or firearms and exceeding speed limit of 50km/h
